Isabella County Corn Farmers Weigh Late Planting Season

Now a month behind schedule, some corn farmers in Isabella County are weighing the risks of a late planting season. Isabella County, like many in Michigan, had too much rain last month, making planting impossible. Farmer Joe Bryant is only about a third of the way through planting his 800 acres of corn. Planting this late, he knows he's taking a calculated risk, but he also knows the price of corn is high, and will likely remain that way. While planting can continue, any corn planted after June 5 is insured at a reduced level.
