Missing 80 Yr. Old Man found and Rescued in Osceola Co.

An 80 year old man who was missing for eight hours Friday is safe, after law enforcement and rescue personnel from all over the Osceola County area responded to the call. The man went out to look for mushrooms around 10 a.m. Friday in the area of Hibma road and 200th Avenue in Burdell Township. When the Tustin man hadn't returned by six pm., relatives contacted the Osceola county sheriff's office. Deputies, along with a K-nine, began a search of the area which consisted of hardwoods, swamps and fields. several other fire and rescue, and police agencies joined the search. After four hours the man was located near a swamp about a mile and a half northeast of his home. Because of the rough terrain, officers had to carry the man about three quarters of a mile to a waiting four wheel drive rescue vehicle. From there he was taken to a waiting ambulance which transported him to Cadillac Mercy Hospital in stable condition.
