Saving The Great Lakes Forever Conference Kicks Off In T.C.

Saving the Great Lakes forever is both the name and the goal of the conference that kicked off in Traverse City. Different environmental organizations including the Flow for Water Coalition and the Great Lakes Water Studies Institute are hosting the event. They started their discussions at the State Theater with keynote speaker Maude Barlow, an internationally acclaimed water activist, and they showed the movie “TAPPED.” But the real critical thinking begins Saturday May 7 at the Milliken Auditorium on NMC's campus. “There will be a panel to discuss the solution or the solutions we need to come together to implement move water and ensure water is here 12,000 years from now the way it is today,” said Jim Olson, chair of the Flow for Water Coalition. Jennifer Profitt and Photojournalist Justin DePrekel have the story.
