Education Budget Separate From $33-Billion State Budget Bill

The Michigan house passed a $33-billion dollar budget bill Wednesday, but it does not include education funding. Education was left out of the measure that will close prisons, drops more than 12-thousand families from welfare and make cuts to senior services. This bill includes $7-billion dollars in general fund spending. The bill must be reconciled with spending bills already passed by the Senate. A separate budget bill that includes public schools, community colleges and state universities must still be passed. Stay with 9&10 News for the latest on the state budget.
