What a Difference One Year Makes for Spring in Northern Michigan

If this latest spring storm is prolonging your winter blues, just look to the golf world to know you're not alone. This time last year, many avid golfers already had a few rounds under their belt. Several golf courses around the region opened up around mid-March last year. Elmbrook Golf Course in Traverse City planned to open Friday, but that's obviously been pushed back now until early April. “We have a lot of pent up demand right now,” says John Olson, Co-Owner of Elmbrook. “People just love to get out this time of year.” The early spring storm also pushed back the target opening date at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. They're hoping to get at least one of their courses open and operating by April 15th. “This time of year everybody gets a little edgy,” says Scott Hebert, Head Golf Pro at the resort. “They want to get out and play some golf. Golf has been on TV now for a couple months.” 9&10's Ryan Raiche and Photojournalist Jeremy Erickson have a look at what a difference one year can make.
