U.S. Chartering Americans Out of Japan Because of Nuclear Situation
The United States has started sending chartered flights to Japan to begin volunteer evacuations for Americans. The U.S. Ambassador says the situation at the nuclear plant in Fukushima is “deteriorating.” Officials at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission say the radiation levels at Fukushima are extremely high. U.S. Officials have said any Americans within a 50 mile radius of the plant should leave the area or stay inside. Helicopters are dropping water on the plant in attempts to cool down nuclear reactors and fuel rods.
