Traverse City Singer Chelsee Oaks Makes The Cut For American Idol

Two of Traverse City's own appeared on American Idol this week. Chelsee Oaks and Rob Bolin both grew up in the Traverse City area, and they made it to the Hollywood stage of the show. Tuesday night, Chelsee made it to the next round but Rob did not. Chelsee's family and friends gathered around their TV to cheer them on. Chelsee's mom said it's surreal seeing your daughter perform on TV. “It’s so awesome, I’m just so proud of her of the way she’s carrying herself on the show, it’s stressful what they’re doing, working around the clock and a lot of pressure and just watching her handle herself it’s just really exciting,” said Tracee Crabtree, Chelsee's mom. Chelsee is no stranger to Traverse area stages either; she's performed at the National Cherry Festival, Old Town Playhouse and Friday Night Live. “Her goal would be to be able to tour on a national level,” Crabtree said. Jennifer Profitt and Photojournalist Drew Parfitt joined them while they watched Idol. They have the story.
