Manna Food Project Works With Schools To Feed Students
Manna Food Project, a food bank in Emmet County, is working with area schools to feed students on the weekends. Around 350 kids from five schools are participating in the “Food 4 Kids Backpack Program.” Alanson Elementary School is one school benefiting and the secretary there says 40 students are currently getting the backpacks. Manna Food Project eventually wants to feed students from all schools in Emmet, Charlevoix and Antrim Counties. Money for the program came from six northern Michigan foundations, but current funding runs out in June. Manna Food Project is working to get more money to support the program. There is a fundraiser scheduled for Tuesday, February 22 at Cava in Bay Harbor. It runs from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting the “Food 4 Kids Backpack Program.” RSVP recommended to 231-347-8852 or email@example.com. 9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Justin DePrekel have more details on the program.
