Update: New Details Released in Ludington Death Investigations
Northern Michigan's News Leader is learning new, disturbing details in the deaths of two people in Ludington, including a 7 year old girl. Today, police released what they think happened the day the died. We also now know the girl's mother is facing charges. Back in April, police found the bodies of Chloey Stoudt and James Bellanger in an apartment in Ludington. Chloey lived at the home with her mother. Bellanger stopped to visit Chloey's mother. Police say results from Chloey's and Bellanger's autopsies show he suffocated the child early that morning. Medical examiners say Bellanger raped Chloey before killing her. After that incident, the investigation shows he stabbed himself in the chest, missing his heart. Police say he drank some whiskey then woke up Chloey's mother, Kelly Stoudt. Police say he told Kelly what he had done to the child and then stabbed himself a second time with another knife. Kelly pushed Bellanger out of the apartment. He walked away, removed the knife and made it back inside where he died. Kelly called 9-1-1 immediately. The prosecutor says Kelly and Bellanger had a prior relationship, but were just friends at the time. The autopsy shows Bellanger had alcohol, cocaine and prescription drugs in his body. Kelly Stoudt was in court last week. She is facing charges for maintaining a drug house, using cocaine and having marijuana. Right now her two other children are living with Kelly's grandparents.
