Non-Profit Groups Work To Create Restaurant, Jobs For Special Needs Adults
The Amvets Post 110 in Cadillac is leasing their building to After 26 Project, a non-profit group that seeks to held special needs adults. They'll create a restaurant and retail store and employ 30 special needs adults. The Amvets building is a nearly 100 year old train station and is in need of some repair. After 26 Project hopes to have their business up and running next year, but that depends on how fast they can get funding. “It is good for the entire community,” said Andrew MacDonald, After 26 Project board member. “We’re of course employing 30 special needs people, we will have a general manager, we’ll have wait and support staff and some cooks.” Jennifer Profitt and Photojournalist Justin DePrekel spoke with both groups and have more on the story.
