Authorities Helped Out in Search by Good Samaritans

One of those good samaritans was Budde Reed from Ludington. Reed was alerted to the crash by a local newspaper writer and immediately left work, jumped in his Boston Whaler fishing boat and sped to the scene. Reed said he was one of the first boats on the scene and the civilian boats present immediately started assisting the Coast Guard and police boats in creating grids to search for survivors.
