Big Ticket Festival Getting Too Big For Gaylord
The three-day-long Christian music event, the Big Ticket Festival, started today, Thursday, in Gaylord. More than 25-thousand fans are expected to come. The event will feature more than 100 bands on six different stages, as well as BMX riders, skateboarders and activities for kids. Over the last five years the festival has grown, and organizers say it's getting too big for the Gaylord Fairgrounds. Next year, in 2011, the festival will be at a bigger venue, downstate in Ionia. Without making the move, organizers say it's likely they would have to limit ticket sales in future years. The local business community is understanding but the move will be a major loss for the community. 9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Aaron Smith have more details.
