Gus Macker Returns to Ludington

It was a hoops haven on the shores of Lake Michigan this weekend. Gus Macker charity basketball tournaments can be found all across the country but few compare to the event put on in Ludington. Fifty-six nets were set up on the shores of Lake Michigan at Stearns Park to house more than 900 teams for the two-day tournament. Organizers say the Ludington tournament is so popular due to the location and weather Ludington consistently provides. All proceeds go back into area schools and services but the town benefits more than just that. The Gus Macker tournament was born in 1974 in Lowell, Michigan and has been held in Ludington every year since 1991. A total on how much money was raised is still being tallied.
