Cadillac Public Safety Director Suddenly Retires

The Cadillac Director of Public Safety is stepping down after 25-years of service. Amid controversy, the City Council approved Jeff Hawke's request for early retirement Monday night. The decision came during a closed session, followed by a statement from the mayor. Bill Barnett says he made some “ill advised and derogatory remarks regarding Mr. Hawke” in May. The mayor says those comments prompted Hawke's request for early retirement. Hawke will retire effective July 1st.
