Apple Orchards Suffer Worst Crop in Decades
Orchards across Northern Michigan are suffering through the worst apple crop in decades. A late frost over Mothers' Day weekend wiped out an extreme amount of the area's apples. The frost struck at one of the most vulnerable points for an apple crop. The Mason County MSU Extension says some orchards lost everything, and it may not even be feasible for them to harvest any apples at all. For others, they're left struggling to save whatever's left. 9&10 News checked out the destroyed crops at Hackert Family Farms near Ludington in Mason County. Alex Jokich and photojournalist Ben Talarico have the story.
