TCAPS Superintendent Search Ends
The search is over for a new Traverse City Public Schools superintendent. Thursday night, the school board voted to offer the job to Stephen Cousins, a superintendent for Reeths-Puffer Schools in Muskegon. Back in January, Jim Feil announced his plan to retire at the end of the school year. Since then, board members asked the public to help cultivate a job description to see what they want in a superintendent. The board brought in five candidates to interview, then narrowed the field to two–Cousins and Dr. Thomas Goodney, deputy superintendent in Columbus, OH. Cousins accepted the job over the phone. The board will be in contact with Cousins in the next few weeks to make it official. Jodi Hathaway and photojournalist Justin DePrekel have more on the story.
