Northern Michigan Communities Organize Spring Clean-up Day

This time of year, a lot of your junk ends up at the curb. In Project Green, we found a different way to get rid of stuff during spring cleaning. Many communities in Northern Michigan have an organized Spring Clean-up Day. Put almost anything at the curb and a garbage truck will haul it away. It's a process that makes many at the Emmet County Drop-Off Center cringe. Most of what you're throwing away could actually be recycled. The drop-off center will take small appliances and scrap metal for free. But there is a charge for certain things like unfinished wood and asphalt shingles.
