CMU Baseball Players earn MAC Honors

Central Michigan senior Jesse Hernandez has been named the Mid-American Conference pitcher of the year while freshman Dietrich Enns has earned MAC Freshman of the Year honors. Hernandez went 6-1 in the MAC wiht a 3.48 ERA in conference play. Hernandez went 8-2 with a 4.07 ERA overall and needs just one more win to become the 15th player iun program history to win at least nine games in a season. Enns led the MAC in conference ERA (1.23), batting average against (.168) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.82) with a 4-0 record. His 4.95 hits per nine innings leads the nation. Hernandez, Enns and sophomore first baseman Nate Theunissen were all named to the All-MAC First team. Theunissen is hitting .403 and leads the team in doubles, home runs (7), extra-base hits (27) and RBI (51). The 2010 MAC regular season Champion Chippewas open MAC tournament play tomorrow night in Chillicothe, Ohio against 8th-seed Ohio. Game time is 7:30 PM.
