Some Meridian Fire Evacuees Return Home

After days of being evacuated, hundreds of fire evacuees have been waiting for the word to return home. For many, that word came Thursday allowing some Meridian fire evacuees to sleep in their own beds. On Thursday, fire officials started re-opening several roads allowing some evacuees to finally go home, when 9&10 News talked to evacuees, all agreed they were relieved to see their homes safe and sound. The Forest Service told Northern Michigan's News Leader they don't foresee anymore road closures being moved Thursday night. They say they'll wait until Friday morning, after seeing how the fire moves throughout Thursday night. 9&10's Cali O'Rourke and photojournalist Joel Deaner caught up with some people returning to their homes.
