Northern Angler Ready For Opening Day of Trout Season
Today marks the beginning of Trout season on inland lakes and rivers here in Michigan. And one Northern Michigan fly shop is ready for the action. Of the 18,000 flies that the store has on hand, the Adams Dry Fly is one of the most famous dry flies in the world used for trout. And it's a fly that was first tied right here in Northern Michigan back in 1922. Northern Angler of Traverse City has been anticipating this day, and owners expressed excitement about the upcoming season. Anglers who venture out on the river will find good conditions, with high insect activity and clear streams. But for some, the meaning of opening day isn't so much about the fishing, but more about the experience and the company. The DNRE wants to remind all anglers that they must have an all-species fishing license to possess trout or fish on designated trout waters.
