TCL&P Vote Yes For Biomass Plant
The votes have been tallied and the decision is in, the Traverse City Light and Power board met Tuesday night to vote on the next step for a new biomass plant. This has been a much debated proposal from the start. The utility held three public forums before Tuesday night's meeting to discuss the possibility of building the plant to power its customers. The board voted yes to move forward on launching the biomass plant, but there's still plenty of work to be done. The board will now develop a timeline chart of what has to happen next and in what order. They say it'll take a couple of months for the chart to be complete. The board hopes the plant will be complete and ready for use in about four years. 9&10's Cali O'Rourke and photojournalist Joel Deaner were at the meeting, they have more details on what was discussed.
