Crews Investigate Emmet County Apartment Fire

Fire crews spent the day investigating what started a fire that destroyed part of this Emmet County apartment complex. The Fire Chief says 12 apartments are now unlivable. The fire started around 2:30 am Monday at the Lafayette Park Apartments in Petoskey. The building affected was part of a larger apartment complex, so firefighters needed to act quickly. The Fire Chief says it appears every unit had a working smoke detector. They believe the fire started on the back side of the building, on the second or third floor. 9&10's Alex Jokich and photojournalist Aaron Smith have more details.
