Possible Overnight Frost Has Some Cherry Farmers Concerned
Freezing temperatures tonight might bring some frost with them, and that would spell trouble for cherry farmers. The unseasonably warm weather we've had recently has caused cherry trees to blossom three full weeks earlier than normal. But the early blossoming itself isn't the problem. It's the cold nights that follow that are making some cherry farmers a little nervous. And while some freezing would help the situation caused by last year's surplus, the chilly forecast still has farmers waiting and watching. Farmers say they can't remember the last time the trees were in blossom this early, but hope that it turns out to be a good thing.
