Elderly Man Pleads Not Guilty to Negligent Homicide
An 83 year old man will be back in court next month, accused of killing his wife and an Antrim County truck driver while speeding down I-96. Police say Robert Gorter was speeding through a construction zone in Grand Rapids when the accident happened Labor Day weekend. His wife Edna and Robert Osborne, a truck driver from Mancelona, died in the crash. Police say Gorter hit a guard rail, spun out of control and hit the semi. The truck went over the bridge and crashed into the road below. Gorter pleaded not guilty to negligent homicide charges in court this week.
