Class Sizes Going Up Across the State

TCAPS isn't the only district adding more students to the classroom. With the State's school funding system in crisis, districts are often forced to lay off teachers; which leaves fewer staff members, with more students. Superintendents, teachers, and lawmakers agree that when class sizes go up, individual learning goes down. Teachers say increasing class sizes puts some students at risk to fall through the cracks and schools at risk for drops in enrollment.
