Abandoned Animals found in Filthy Living Conditions

Lake County deputies say it's one of the worst cases they've seen, and after searching a foreclosed home, Animal Control officers pulled out more than a dozen pets that had been left behind to die. Police say the woman was a hoarder and what they found today was far worse than they expected. Officers found starving cats, dogs and birds inside the Bristol home. Animal Control was able to rescue nine animals during the time Northern Michigan's News Leader was there, and were still finding both living and dead animals in the woman's yard. After seeing the horrible conditions first hand, 9&10's Cali O'Rourke and photojournalist Stephanie Adkins have more details. If you're interested in donating or adopting the animals, contact the Lake County Sheriff Department at (231) 745-2712.
