Antrim County Murderer to be Released Early

A man who murdered a woman in Antrim County back in the 70's is set to be released from prison after only serving 33 years of a 75 year sentence. Back in 1977, Victor Cole plead guilty to murdering and sexually assaulting a woman in her Elk Rapids cottage. She was strangled with an article of her own clothing. Cole will be released early for good behavior on December first of this year. The prosecutor says voters abolished “good time” and enacted “truth in sentencing” in 1998. But since Cole was sentenced before those votes, the law allows Cole to have a reduced sentence. The Michigan Department of Corrections Thursday said Cole will be under parole supervision.
