Northwestern Michigan College will be expanding its Aero Park Campus in Traverse City. This morning, the college's Board of Trustees voted to buy a building and surrounding property near the northeast corner of Cherry Capital Airport for $1,150,000. NMC plans to spend around $800,000 to renovate the building and start using it this fall. Students in programs like Automotive Technology, Aviation, Construction Technology and Renewable Energy will use the space for labs and classrooms. NMC says the plan gives them room to grow. The college says buying the building will save them money in the long run, because it would cost more to rent or build a space like it.
