Charlevoix County Students Move Classroom Outdoors

Nobody said a classroom has to include desks and a chalkboard. Today, kindergarten and first grade students from St. Mary's of Charlevoix used the woods to learn about nature. The students, led by education coordinators from the Little Traverse Conservancy learned about animals and what they do in nature. One coordinator, Alison Berry, says the idea of this program is to get the kids outside exploring and familiar with nature. The conservancy hosts the program daily, and focuses on more than 50 different schools in five different counties. 9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Aaron Smith tagged along for today's lesson. They have more details.
