Red Wings beat Predators 4-2 for 8th-place tie

Jimmy Howard made 46 saves, and Jason Williams, Nicklas Lidstrom, Drew Miller and Henrik Zetterberg scored in the Detroit Red Wings' 4-2 victory over the Nashville Predators on Friday night. With the victory, Detroit avoided a season-high, four-game losing streak. Francis Bouillon tied it for Nashville in the first period and Shea Weber pulled the Predators within a goal in the third. Dan Ellis stopped 25 shots as the Predators lost a season-high fifth game. Detroit moved into an eighth-place tie with Nashville in the Western Conference standings with about a third of the regular season left. The Red Wings are hoping to extend their playoff streak to 19, the longest in sports. Nashville didn't make the playoffs last year after a four-year run. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press.
