Generosity Softens School Budget Crisis

A team effort at one Northern Michigan school will soften the blow of a hefty budget deficit. Mesick Schools in Wexford County faced a $250,000 budget crisis coming into second semester. Staff and community members refused to just sit back and watch their district struggle. They found a unique way to help out with an unfortunately not-so-unique problem. It meant dipping into their own pockets. School leaders say they still aren't finished with budget worries, but they can at least make it through this year.
