Mason County Gas Station Fire Ruled Arson

Deputies from the Mason County Sheriff's Department say they suspected arson shortly after arriving on the scene of a gas station fire early this morning. Firefighters were called to the BP gas station on U.S. 10 near Ludington around 4 a.m. on Thursday. They say a firefighter noticed a side door to the building had been tampered with, which led police to believe someone set fire to the building to cover up the break in. One of the owners of the building says it appears whoever broke in got away with some cash, but he doesn't know how much just yet. 9&10's Kalee Iacoangeli and photojournalist Chivon Kloepfer spent the day at the scene and have the latest from police and the owner. A reward is being offered to anyone with information about the break in or the arson. If you have information on either crime, call the Mason County Sheriff's Department or call the Arson tip line at 1-800-44-ARSON.
