Local Auto Suppliers Get Boost from Automaker’s Plans to Increase Production

The buzz of business is back at Great Lakes Trim in Williamsburg in Grand Traverse County. The company has picked up its production thanks to an announcement from several North American automakers that they are going to dramatically increase their production of passenger vehicles this quarter. Both Ford Motor Company and General Motors plan to more than double their production. Chrysler says it'll pick up its output 92 percent. Finally, Toyota plans the biggest boost of all, kicking up it's production 113 percent. 9&10's Kalee Iacoangeli and photojournalist Jordan Nagel report that for Great Lakes Trim, this means having enough work to bring back some employees and even start a second shift for the first time in several years.
