Ice conditions are prompting the coast guard in Sault Ste. Marie to close off the South Channel between Cheboygan and Bois Blanc Island. That goes into effect at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The Coast Guard reminds recreational ice users to plan their activities carefully, use caution on the ice and stay away from shipping channels.
