Isabella County Man Accused Of Trying to Murder Toddler

An Isabella County man is accused of strangling, biting, and repeatedly punching a two year old — causing the toddler to have a stroke. The man now faces life in prison for attempted murder, torture, and other charges. Prosecutors say the attack happened in late October, two months after David Slavik was sentenced for second degree child abuse for fracturing the same child's skull. They say the crimes happened on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Reservation in Mt. Pleasant. Slavik was charged for the crimes yesterday. Along with a stroke, the child suffered other life threatening injuries.
