Flu Season Not Over Yet; Health Officials Encourage Vaccinations

Even if you managed to dodge the first two waves of the H1N1 outbreak, flu season's not over yet. The Health Department of Northwest Michigan is promoting National Influenza Vaccination Week. Even though the flu has died down a little, there are still a few months left of flu season. The health department encourages everyone to get their seasonal flu shots and the H1N1 vaccine. “If it's a true pandemic, there will be a third wave of H1N1 disease, if people get out there and get their vaccine, the severity of that third wave will be sharply decreased,” Suzette Daly, R.N. for the Health Dept. of NW Michigan, said. Unlike earlier in the season, there is plenty vaccine to go around now. Check with your local health department for upcoming vaccination clinics.
