Three Northern Michigan Counties Have Highest Child Poverty Levels in the State

The numbers weren't good in the newly released Kids Count report for Lake, Roscommon and Clare Counties. The level of child poverty in all three of those counties was above 32 percent in 2007, and social service agencies say those numbers have likely risen even more since then. But as 9&10's Kalee Iacoangeli and photojournalist Jordan Nagel report, the rise in child poverty levels didn't come as a surprise to the Department of Human Services and the United Way in Clare County.
