TCAPS Board Continues Budget Cut Talks

When it comes to budget cuts, the school board for Traverse City Area Public Schools has new guidelines for determining what stays and what goes. Tonight the school board discussed the new criteria. They'll be using what they call “filters” to look at potential cuts. Some of the filters include staying in line with TCAPS' mission and goals, keeping a long-term perspective, and retaining and attracting students. Some board members spoke up to make sure keeping high quality staff made the list, too. The board will make decisions on some cuts at their February 8th meeting.
