Local Students Get Glimpse at Snocross Career

Some Cadillac-area technical students got an up close look at some of the snowmobiles that competed in this weekend's snocross races. The crew from the Yamaha National Snowfest Team stayed an extra day to meet with the power sports students at the Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center. They toured the Yamaha trailer to look at their race gear and equipment. The team owner says showing them behind the scenes could spark an interest for a future career. “We know about the mechanical aspects of what you can get involved in with manufacturing, and getting a job, but it also shows what I call the Road Show programs that are out there. From Nascar, which is the benchmark that we do, and this is the snow division of that,” Andre Laurin, Yamalube team owner, said. Laurin says there are many opportunities in snocross racing, and many of the students seemed interested.
