Authorities have identified the pilot and co-pilot of the cargo plane that crashed earlier this week into the Des Plaines River outside Chicago. Cook County Forest Preserve Police on Thursday identified the pilot as 38-year-old Stephen Ellis of Pontiac, Michigan. The co-pilot was identified as 40-year-old Ryan Daenzer, who lived in Osceola County, Michigan. The fate of one of Cadillac's largest employers is in the hands of the highest bidder today. Genmar is the parent company of Four Winns, and currently all of its assets are up for auction, including the Cadillac boat manufacturing facility. The only bidder named so far is the California-based company, Platinum Equity. A federal grant is funding two State Police Hometown Security teams. These Michigan State Police troopers will be dispersed throughout the Upper Peninsula and northern part of the lower peninsula. The 12 extra officers will concentrate on high-traffic and high-crime areas, making their presence known. They will also help with special events or major emergencies.
