Airman In Iraq Watches Baby Born In Manistee

Manistee's first baby of the new year has a special story to tell about her first birthday. The baby's father is an airman, currently stationed in Iraq, but he was able to be there for the birth via the internet. Madilynn Nicole Draughon was born last night at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee. Though her father, Clint, is overseas, he was able to be there for all 12 hours of mom, Sarah's, labor. The parents frequently talk using webcams over the internet, and decided to try it for the birth. Everything came together, and the new mom says it was as if her husband was really there with her. The new parents have been apart since October and will be re-united in March. Erika Waddell and photojournalist Justin DePrekel have the story.
