Kalkaska Co. Sheriff Gets New K-9 Unit

The Kalkaska County Sheriff's Department has a new tool at their disposal, and it has four legs. Their newest team member is Roselynn, a one and half year old German Shepherd who responds to Polish commands. The sheriff's department was able to purchase him with an $18,000 federal grant. Sheriff Dave Israel says the K-9 will help his department work faster and more efficiently. He says the dog's special tracking ability will help them find missing people, drugs, and suspects on the run. The sheriff's department had previously relied on other departments for help when they needed a K-9. Erika Waddell and photojournalist Justin DePrekel have the story.
