Skiers helped celebrate the New Year on the slopes in Antrim County Friday. Shanty Creek in Bellaire got six inches of fresh snow overnight, and that was perfect for skiers out there. Some even waited for the lifts to open Friday morning. The resort says they've had perfect weather for skiing this season, and many have been out taking advantage of all the snow. “We started really with Christmas Day and have just been rippin' ever since. Set a record for skiers on Wednesday and broke it yesterday, we got lots of skiers here again today,” Steve Kershner, director of snow sports, said. Kershner says the resort is optimistic about the new year; they've already sold almost twice as many season passes as last year.
