Volunteers Use Donated Materials to Build New Decks at Reining Liberty Ranch

Posted: Updated:

Construction of two new decks is underway at Reining Liberty Ranch near Traverse City, a way to help a place already helping local veterans.

The ranch is a nonprofit therapeutic riding center dedicated to giving veterans and their families a sense of community.

Friday, with donated materials from Kingsley Lumber Company, construction began on two new decks.

One is handicapped accessible, allowing safer access to the restroom.

All the work was done for free by volunteers from North Wind Construction.

Seeing this many people give so much to the cause, the director of Reining Liberty Ranch says it's truly touching.

"I feel amazed and extremely, profoundly grateful, and almost to the point of disbelief that this kind of gift would be brought here so quickly and through so many people that are our caring about our mission here to serve veterans and this community,” said Rebecca Bigelow, Reining Liberty Ranch director.

The owner of Kingsley Lumber Company who donated the materials is also a veteran.
