Central Lake Voters Consider Bus Bonds

Posted: Updated:

Voters in the Central Lake School District are deciding on a bond proposal that would pay for new buses.

The district says their current fleet is aging and in need of an upgrade.

The proposal .16 mills for 10 years, meaning a homeowner with property valued at $100,000 would pay an extra $16 in taxes.

Central Lake Schools says the money would provide four new buses which can cost up to $82,000 each.

“To come up with $82,000 is a large expense to one school, our fund balance and our budget is not that large so for us to plan in advance and have that money available is financially responsible,” said Superintendent Lenore Weaver

If the measure passes, the district hopes to buy their first bus next year.
