Charlevoix County Murder Trial: Suspect's Ex-Wife Expected To Testify

Posted: Updated:

A Charlevoix County murder trial continues.

A man is accused of stabbing his friend to death.

Matthew Fruge is accused of killing Jacob Conklin last October in Bay Township.

Wednesday Fruge's ex-wife is expected to testify.

Conklin's mother is also expected to take the stand.

During opening statements, the Charlevoix County prosecutor says both men struggled with mental illness, and took drugs the night before the stabbing.

Fruge's defense team is arguing insanity.

They say Fruge struggled with PTSD from his time in Iraq, and was ruled mentally ill in the past.

We have a crew in the courtroom for today's testimony and will have a full wrap up on air and online.
