HS Football Two-a-days: Beaverton & Coleman

Posted: Updated:
Nobody covers more high school football than Northern Michigan's Sports Leader.   Tonight's high school football two-a-day previews hit 64 teams with a look at Beaverton and Coleman.

The Beaverton Beavers have made slow and steady improvements over the past few years under Head Coach Aaron Seiser.  It's all been building up to this season as a number of key contributors return for the black and red.

The Beavers are stronger on the defensive side of the ball and have been focusing on stopping run in order to compete in the physical Jack Pine Conference.  So far the coaching staff is impressed with the team's commitment and chemistry.

"I think kids are really focusing on this is going to be my last year, a lot of growing up," Seiser said.  "It's a natural thing but it's neat to see that from a group of kids as you've watched them now for three years like I have.  So I like our team because I see that sense that 'hey, we're together, and you know we're trying to represent Beaverton.'"

The Coleman Comets have made the postseason in two of the past three seasons.  It should also feature an exciting offense again as Adam Stremlow enters his third season as the Comets quarterback in a passing offense that proved it could put up points quickly last season.

Their biggest concern entering this season is in the trenches.

:"We gotta get our offensive line going," Head Coach Chad Klopf said.  "We've got four young guys...or four new guys I should say, not young guys.  They've had some experience but not as much as we'd like them to have.  Last year we probably graduated six or seven kids that could start across the front five."

The Comets hope the front five will fair well against Farwell in the season opener.
