HS Football Two-a-days preview: Lakeview & Morley Stanwood

Our two-a-day previews are heading to CSAA's silver division this evening.

Starting with Lakeview, the Wildcats hadn't made it to the playoffs since 2006 but were able to get a taste of the postseason before being eliminated early by Glen Lake last year. Something the team looks to continue with 17 of 22 starters returning to the Wildcat squad.

"On the first day, I took the kids in the gym, and I showed them our football banner, because we've never won a district or regional championship here, ever.  The school's never went 9and-0, never been to a state championship game, and the question I keep asking them everyday is 'Why can't we do that,” said Lakeview Head Coach Sean Rinehart.

Rinehart and his team will take on Tri-County in week one, while Morley Stanwood prepares for Central Montcalm.

After last season's 2-7 finish, the Mohawks want to bounce back to their winning ways ,with lots of experience in the backfield. However, as Head Coach Clark Huntey explains, there's a lot to be done with his new linemen.

"We want to be rough and tough, and we're trying to instill that into our offensive line, that the only way we're going to win is with them.  You know, we could have the most talented backfield in the world, but if we can't block up front, those backs mean nothing.  So, we're really trying to instill that with our offensive line right now," Huntey said.
