Chevy Impala Air Bag Sensors Under Evaluation

Posted: Updated:

The U.S. highway safety agency is investigating an air bag complaint is linked to about 320,000 Chevrolet Impala cars.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says the front passenger airbags from the 2007 through 2009 models may not inflate in a crash.

Investigators say a weight sensor may malfunction and disable the air bags.

A California crash analysis firm says GM used the same type of system in other cars built from 2004 to 2007, but the NHTSA says they have not found a defect in those models.

GM reviewed the problem and decided no action was needed.
