GT County Police Investigating New Jury Duty Phone Scam

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports of a phone call scam involving jury duty.

Police say two people have received calls from a person claiming to be an officer at the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office. The caller says they missed jury duty and now have fines and warrants out for their arrest.  The caller said if they did not pay, they will be arrested.

The Sheriff's Office says they will not call anyone who misses jury duty or demand money for warrants.

If you get a call like this, you are asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 231-995-5002 and select option number 3 for the Detective Bureau.

    Police have identified the 19-year-old Grand Traverse County man who died after a two car accident Saturday night. The accident happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Williamsburg Road near Woodcrest Lane in Whitewater Township.
